As a long-time gun enthusiast, I like to think I know what gun owners expect from their local gun shop. I opened Thunderbolt Guns in order to provide area residents and visitors with a reliable, accurate and friendly source for information pertaining to firearms and firearms training.

DICK BERMAN - OWNER
Dick relocated to Savannah from Hilton Head, SC and founded Thunderbolt Guns in November, 2006.
He earned his BA from Syracuse University and his JD from Boston University.Dick is a GLOCK Certified Advanced Armorer, GSSF rated Master Class Shooter, and eight time GLOCK 500 Club award winner for having shot perfect scores in GLOCK Indoor League Competition. He has earned Expert ratings in NRA Conventional Outdoor (Bullseye) Pistol, USPSA, PPC and IDPA. He is a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) certified Concealed Weapons Permit Instructor and Level 1, 2, and 3 Security Officer Instructor. His NRA Basic Firearms Instructor certifications include Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun as well as Personal Protection, Range Safety and the "Refuse to Be a Victim" instructional course.

As an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, he is accredited by the NRA to train and certify Range Safety Officers. He is an endowment life member of the NRA and a life member of both the Law Enforcement Alliance of America and Gun Owners of America.
Dick is an active supporter of GeorgiaCarry.org and is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI). He is a member of the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah. His latest passions are the clay sports - skeet, trap and sporting clays, and of course quail hunting.
SHANE BROWN - Range Instructor
Shane has lived in Savannah for the past eight years and knows the local gun community well. An active competition shooter (3 Gun, IDPA, USPSA, etc.) , he was Thunderbolt Guns' full time gunsmith. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he attended Sonoran Desert Institute studying for his Associate of Science Degree in Firearms Technology. He has an Advanced Gunsmithing Certificate, a Ballistics Certificate and an Advanced Armorer Certificate. He also has earned a Basic Armorer's Certification from GLOCK, INC. Like Dick, Shane has a passion for firearms. a passion for firearms instruction and enjoys sharing his knowledge with students.

Our first action was to sue Georgia’s Probate Judges to force them to follow the law. We sued them to force them to issue licenses within a certain time frame as opposed to issuing them when they so desired. We also took them to court to remove their requirement of applicants to supply their Social Security numbers and employment information in order to obtain a license. Next, we took on cities and counties to force them to repeal their local gun bans, in violation of Georgia’s Preemption Law (OCGA 16-11-173).
